Dreaming of a Balayage hair colour, but still not sure if it is for you? Here, the team of expert hair colour technicans at GOLSON answer some of your most commonly asked questions about Balayage...
What Is Balayage?
Originating from the French word meaning to paint or to sweep, the Balayage hair colour technique gives a beautifully blended look, with no obvious hair lines or root regrowth. It allows our talented stylists at GOLSON to create stunning colours, ranging from baby blondes and beiges, to warm caramels and honey, right up to vibrant reds and coppers. As well as suiting the blondes and brunettes among us, the subtle nature of the technique doesn’t leave out those who love a more dynamic hair colour!
How Long Does a Balayage Hair Colour Service at GOLSON Take?
This depends on the depth of colour, and how many layers of colour you and your GOLSON stylist discuss and agree on. It can be anything from a 45 minute service to something up to 3 hours! However, don’t forget, the natural blend of colour means you can leave it longer in-between colour appointments and have a look purely designed to suit you, your hair type and your colouring.
What's The Difference Between Balayage & Ombre?
Balayage is the technique used to achieve the desired look and Ombre is the result. However, you’ll find many descriptions with Balayage offering the more natural blend throughout the hair and the Ombre going from a darker route colour blending into lighter ends, resulting in a more defined look. You’ll also hear root stretch, root melt, sombre, colour melt… but if you see a look you love, share it with your GOLSON stylist who will help you achieve the look you’re after.
Caring For Your Balayage
At GOLSON, we will always recommend the best product to keep your colour in tip-top shape and to help it stay as fresh looking as possible. The right Shampoos & Conditioners are crucial to prevent your hair from fading and drying out. Don’t forget also, its sometimes possible to have a toner in-between visits rather than a whole colour refresh to keep your hair looking fresh & glossy.
